General Tobacco begins production at Mayodan plant -

Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2008 3:51 pm MAYODAN — General Tobacco today announced it has begun manufacturing and distributing its first U.S.-made tobacco products at its new, state–of-the-art manufacturing plant.
General Tobacco produced its first run of Broncos using new, high-speed German-engineered manufacturing equipment.
It will then begin producing the GT One, Silver, and 32 Degree cigarettes in rapid succession.
General Tobacco will also be producing its Vaquero Little Cigars as additional new machines are put into service next week.
“Today is a significant milestone for GT as now the company is manufacturing 100 percent of our tobacco products in the United States,” said J. Ronald Denman, Executive Vice President of General Tobacco, in press release.
General Tobacco is the sixth largest tobacco company in the nation with $300 million in annual sales.
