Primary and Secondary Education
There are 26 schools in the Rockingham County School system, with annual enrollment in excess of 13,800 students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The county schools include 16 elementary, four middle and four traditional high schools, one alternative school, and one Early College High School. In addition, there are more than 30 private schools located within a 40-miles radius.
RCS features a strong academic program with numerous opportunities to explore and enhance the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Technology plays a vital role in the RCS with 975 classrooms equipped as 21st Century Classrooms with the use of technology in the instruction. The quality of the schools is demonstrated through strong student achievement results.
Colleges and Universities
Rockingham Community College
Rockingham Community College, located in Wentworth, offers two-year college degree, certification and diploma curriculum in more than 40 programs. It also provides continuing education through workforce development, job training programs, and customized training for industries. RCC also offers juniors and seniors from the county's four traditional high schools the opportunity to take a selection of college courses through the Rockingham County Early College High School. RCC offers students a variety of ways to explore service, leadership, team building, physical activity adn social involvement.
