Autumn Creek
Vineyards, which is just seven miles
off US 220 in Mayodan, represents a success story of what
was old being made new. Located on a former hay, cattle and tobacco
farm more than 100 years old, Autumn Creek Vineyards grows
both red and white grape varieties on more than eight acres. The
Vineyard features two “Cabins in the Vines” that
provide relaxing, secluded getaway retreats with all modern
amenities. The first cabin is a restored log cabin that
overlooks part of the vineyard and features one bedroom plus
a loft. The second cabin is a larger, two-bedroom newly
constructed log cabin located on the other side of the vineyards. Both
cabins are the perfect location for a romantic getaway or special

Autumn Creek’s Tasting
Room
is
now open.
Hours
of operation are:
• Thursdays 1-6 p.m.
• Friday & Saturdays 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Sundays 1-6 p.m.
$5 fee includes tasting of Autumn Creek’s
seven wines as well as a commemorative wine glass.
Autumn Creek Vineyards is also planning
to construct an eight-room inn and special events center
in 2008. It
will be designed to host retreats, conferences, and special
events such as weddings and receptions. Plans for a third
getaway cabin on the property are also underway.

Chinqua-Penn
Plantation Wine Tasting Room
The growing of grapes and making of
wine continues at historic Chinqua-Penn Plantation with
the Chinqua-Penn Wine Tasting Room. The Tasting Room
is located adjacent to the gift shop in the main entrance
area. Chinqua-Penn wines are available for tasting and
purchase and guests are invited to enjoy a glass wine in
the Tasting Room or on the adjoining patio. The
Tasting Room is open regular hours on Wednesdays through
Sundays and there is a $5 tasting fee in addition to house
or grounds admission.
