Rockingham County is in the process
of developing a 400-stall, regional, multi-purpose equestrian
center, which is slated to be called “Horse
Park of the South.” Following a feasibility study that indicated
this area would be a prime location for such a center,
the Board of Commissioners voted to move forward with
the project. The county has secured a $1.5 million
GoldenLEAF Foundation grant and $1 million from the NC
General Assembly thus far for the development of the
center, which is projected to cost $10 million. The
county has also secured 152 acres off NC HWY 29 (Future
I-785) in Reidsville for the center.
