The county’s 17 public parks offer a variety of activities for the whole family from playgrounds, walking trails, a disc golf course, tennis courts, championship baseball and softball fields, soccer fields, volleyball courts, paddle boating and picnic/event facilities.   

The Chinqua-Penn Walking Trail is located on the Upper Piedmont Research Station, next to the historic Chinqua-Penn plantation between Reidsville and Wentworth.  The 1.5 mile trail is one of the highlights of outdoor recreation in the county.  The trail features scenic, natural beauty and a number of historic points of interest. 

Rockingham County’s recreational amenities also include horse-riding centers and farms.  These equestrian facilities offer stall rentals, riding lessons and even pony clubs for children.
