There is also a riverside walking trail that runs along the serene Smith River, as well as trails for both hiking and walking at the Haw River and Mayo River State Parks.

One unique trail in this area is the Chinqua-Penn Walking Trail that is located next to the Upper Piedmont Research Station in the beautiful countryside.   And Reidsville has begun the development of the Reidsville Greenway with its first segment, the Jaycee Park Trail, and has three Downtown Reidsville Walking Routes.

In the southwestern area of Rockingham County near Belews Lake, the 189-acre Knight Brown Nature Preserve provides nearly three miles of walking trails, handmade benches for resting and taking in scenic beauty, two rippling streams, and picnic tables.
