Rockingham
County is home to a “hidden jewel” in the motosports industry. Located
in Reidsville, Rolling Hills Cycle Park is considered
one of the top tracks in the Southeast for motocross
racing.
The
track is host to the Carolina Ultra Series and the Championship Series;
two highly regarded southeastern motocross racing series that are
sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association. In addition
to these series, the track runs scheduled open practices throughout
the season.

Riverside Raceway Park
Rockingham
County’s Riverside Raceway Park has been
helping teach kart racing to children and adults since 1986. The
track hosts its own series of kart racing events on Friday
and Saturday nights during the racing season in 13 classes,
from age 5 to senior citizens. It has become a great
place for kids to learn the sport of racing as well for amateurs
of all ages to participate in some fast-track fun. The
park is located in the rolling hills of Mayodan and features
a 1/5 mile banked clay track. Other features include
stadium style lighting in the pits, tire prep, fuel, full
line of kart parts and accessories, playground area, concessions
and a restaurant.

Other Area Racing Venues
Martinsville Speedway, Martinsville, VA
The Martinsville Speedway
is the region’s only NASCAR sanctioned race track.
Located just 20 miles from the Rockingham County border,
this is the last remaining short track on the NASCAR circuit.
The speedway hosts NASCAR Nextel Cup races in the spring
and fall as well as other stock car and truck races throughout
the year.

Virginia International Raceway, Alton, VA
VIRginia International Raceway
(VIR) hosts amateur and professional automobile and motorcycle
events, driving schools, club days and private test rentals.
Built around the VIRginia International Raceway, the VIR
Motorsport Country Club is a high performance driving
venue that also offers extensive resort facilities. VIR
has been called “America’s motorsport resort”
and is located approximately 30 minutes from Rockingham
County.
